Professional Developement

I have been trained in using the Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA).  This program is used throughout Fairfax County to assess students' reading and give teachers a better idea of what areas of comprehension they need to work on.

I have taken a Professional Development course in Responsive Classroom (RC).  The course focused on the implementation of the components of RC, including the Morning Meeting, and the use of logical consequences.

Within my region, we have started using the Lucy Calkins Reading Units of Study.  As part of the implementation, we have attended several region-wide professional development days. This work is continued in our team CLTs.
